Reflections by Rabbi Joel Cohn
We were on the Eighth Grade graduation trip to Baltimore and Washington, D.C. and eating a sandwich supper outside Camden Yards. When we were finished, all the kids gathered beautifully on a grassy area and we quietly sang Birkat Hamazon. Right after we concluded, a teenage girl, who happened to be there, came over to me and said that she remembered singing the blessing in camp years ago, and would love it if the SAR kids could just sing it again as it would mean so much to her. And so we did.
The Derech Eretz of SAR students has always created a resounding Kiddush Hashem [sanctification of God’s name] which makes me so proud to have been associated with such a wonderful Yeshiva.
